Who cares how my day went? It doesn't matter! This post is dedicated entirely to Harvey Nichols. I would also like to note that Harvey Nichols has not instructed me in anyway to publicly accept their apology, post about what they did to correct the incident, nor did they bargain with me. They were genuinely concerned with my experience and their incredible customer service deserves to be made known. I would never take a bribe or sell out. They deserve this redemption post, so here it is!
For my Fashionators who are new or haven't read the post, I had a bit of a bad experience at Harvey Nichols earlier in January. An associate was so rude I left the store without purchasing the items I intended to buy (well, have my boyfriend buy, but details aren't important). I posted about it and Harvey Nichols read my post. This was amazing to me that I attracted their attention!
They contacted me and put me in touch with the store manager at the location where the incident occurred. He was nothing but polite, kind, and genuinely sorry that I had a negative experience. I accepted this apology and thought it was remarkable that the manager of such a large and prestigious store contacted me. While I am a fashion blogger, I'm certainly no A-list celebrity. The next part is my favorite: He had the team on the 4th floor (where the incident occurred) select gifts for me. I did not request or even hint at this- it was all their (genius) idea.
A large brown parcel arrived yesterday. Nested inside was a white box that read "HARVEY NICHOLS" on the top.
When I opened it, I found an array of gifts packaged beautifully in Harvey Nichols tissue paper. I do not have a photo of this because I mindlessly opened all the gifts before realizing I should've taken a picture for the blog (whoops).
They sent eight beautiful items from the first floor. In no particular order, they sent:
1. Acne T-shirt
This lovely shirt is the perfect staple piece! The crew neck lays nicely and will be lovely with a high-waisted skirt or dark wash jeans (too bad I ripped my jeans...)
2. Alice+Olivia American flag scarf
They must've read my blog and learned I'm an American! How thoughtful! It'll be perfect for the 4th of July or for when I'm feeling patriotic!
3. Elizabeth and James Journal
This is my new fashion journal. I adore that it has blank pages and the Italian leather cover is exquisite and it's the perfect size!
4. Paule Ka Leather Zip Pouch
This Medium sized pouch will be functioning as a clutch, wallet, and carry all from now on! It's the perfect size and the leather is divine.
5. Issa Cloth Tote Bag
The essential carry-all. The white makes it feel like a summer bag- but that's okay. I love black and white and it will be the most perfect summer bag! It's oversized (so I can throw all my stuff in it) and casual, which is a bag genre every woman needs. This will be a good change from my Alexander McQueen cloth tote!
6. Alice+Olivia Vintage Floral Scarf
Possibly my favorite item they sent. I would have never pulled this for myself, but I love it. It's such a diverse floral. The dark colours make it wearable in every season and it's such a strong floral. I know just last night I bashed florals a little (or a lot) but this one is different. It's rich in colour, it's a gorgeous texture, it can dress up jeans and a t-shirt or be paired with a blazer for work. I'm in love.
7. See by Chloe Leather Jewellry Tray
At first I thought they had sent me a really expensive coaster (and thought "okay, takers can't be choosers"), but googled it and learned it's a jewellry tray, which is far more reasonable than a designer leather drink coaster. I love it! It's such a gorgeous place to stick my most worn earrings and bracelets! Another piece I wouldn't have selected for myself but love!
8. Donna Karan Journal
Again, with blank pages without lines, which is my absolute favorite. This spiral bound notebook has a dainty flare from the ribbon, which makes an interesting contrast against the exotic print. It's perfect for jotting down notes and to-do lists in style!
*Bonus: A lovely letter
Harvey Nichols took the time to write me and formally offer me this selection of gifts as an apology present. They even wrote my name on the envelope, which I felt was a nice detail.
Harvey Nichols, apology accepted. I look forward to visiting your store soon and shopping with you for many years to come. When my boyfriend saw what you had done for me, he promptly asked "So does this mean I can go buy you those clothes from Harvey Nichols now?" (I have found a keeper, ladies and gents!!).

Just wondering, why do you spell "colour" if you're American? Love the gifts and blog!
ReplyDeleteI'm American and I do the same thing, along with many other words haha I have both the keyboards on my phone and so I've just gotten used to it. It does, however, not come into use academically. I've gotten points written off.
ReplyDeleteHi there! While I am American, I am currently living in London to work for a shoe company. I have adopted British spellings so that my writing for work will be correct to my colleagues!
ReplyDeleteCheers!
