Bruxelles: Take Two

Hello Fashionators!

Happy Monday! I hope everyone is having a fabulous beginning to their week.

Today was my last day in Brussels, so I was very busy! I started my day with a chocolate croissant- yummy! I spent much of today photographing the city, as the lighting was much more dynamic today than Saturday.

We began our journey by walking down Waterloo, which is lined with stores from all the major fashion houses: Chanel, Dior, Versace, Louis Vuitton, Paule Ka, Gucci, Hermes, Rolex, and so on and so forth. On the other side of Waterloo were less luxurious stores that sold clothes and accessories. While in Belgium, I have seen many women wearing knit hats with fur poms on top. I usually don't like knit hats, and I only have one knit hat that I wear- it's a teal Juicy Couture tobbogan that came with a matching scarf my aunt gave me for Christmas a few years ago. Anyhow, I thought these were the cutest hats and I just had to have one. I found the perfect one just off of Waterloo! It's a warm beige cable knit hat with a fluffy carmel coloured pom on top!

My boyfriend has an affinity for history and learning, while I am more concerned about photographing places I visit. As a result, he led us to another cathedral today, which was quite spectacular. I was actually very thankful my boyfriend led us to this cathedral- but not for religious or even historical purposes. Just outside the cathedral was a row of unassuming shops: a bakery, a chocolatier, a tiny cafe, and a Christian Louboutin Shoe boutique. Unfortunately I was in no position to enter the store, as I was dressed strictly for comfort today. I peered through the windows and admired the gorgeous shoes while lecturing to my boyfriend about the history of the red soles. I began considering the positioning of the Louboutin boutique relative to other luxury brands. I've noticed that Louboutin boutiques seem to be strategically positioned away from major luxury shopping streets. In London, Louboutin is not on Bond Street and in Paris is not on Place Vendome. I'm not sure what to make of it, but admire Louboutin for continuing to be innovative in his shoe designs regardless of his position in the luxury market.

After I was done admiring the Louboutins (or when my boyfriend dragged me away, whatever), we went to the Grand Market so I could photograph shoes for Upper Street. We then went to the fountain of the little boy peeing, which was disappointingly small. The statue was maybe the size of a small bunny, but was still interesting to see.

After wandering around the grand market, boyfriend and I trekked to the Palace and the back to the Cinquantenaire. I spent quite a bit of time photographing the area until it began raining. We walked back to the room, rested a bit, then had our last dinner in Brussels! We picked up breakfast for tomorrow and some chocolates from the store to take home. We are leaving for Paris bright and early tomorrow morning!
